Cub Scout Fun

OK, so summer is over but I just found these pictures from our Cub Scout Swim Party. The boys thought these cupcakes were so fun. I made sure that I brought extra umbrellas, because I was sure that the boys would fight over who got an umbrella. Good thinking! :)

I loved this project and thought that the marshmallow beachballs was a cute detail!

Carrot Cake

Another non-cupcake post. I know. And I know that I have committed the cardinal sin of blogging- not posting for 5 months. Well, I am going back to school-- which has significantly cut into my cupcaking time. Grrr.

Anyway, here is a 4 layer cake I made for my sister's boss. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The coolest thing is that I hate carrot cake, but this recipe is so good that I even ate some! :) And it is healthy! Yay for applesauce and pineapple! Double bonus points for the cute little gumpaste rabbit!

Not a cupcake?!

Along with the below Sushi cupcakes, I made two 8 inch layered cakes for the prom dinner for my sister. They were French Vanilla with raspberry filling and then raspberry cream cheese frosting. Then chocolate branches and gumpaste cherry blossoms. I think they turned out pretty good. The frosting was a little more runny than I wanted, but it tasted great!

SUSHI!!!

My sister had a pre-prom dinner at a friends house and all the parents were in charge of the different courses. They girls decided to have an asian themed dinner and my mom was given the dessert assignment. After a while of trying to think up a good asian dessert that everyone would eat, I came up with SUSHI CUPCAKES!!! They turned out really cute and the girls got to come over and decorate. I couldn't find green fruit roll-ups, so I used blue fruit-by-the-foot. I also had a hard time finding white jimmies without having to order online, but white nonpariels worked fine for the rice! The girls made such cute little "california rolls" and others, one even had a little smiling jelly fish! A-DOR-A-BLE! *^-^*

New Cream Cheese Frosting

More cute cupcakes for a party for my sister! Vanilla Buttermilk cuppies with made-from-scratch cream cheese frosting. I think I may have found the best cream cheese frosting ever! :)

Happy Easter

So, I am a bit late with this post. I took a cup-break (get it? a cup-cake break!) to work on some made-from-scratch bread. Yum! Here is a little guy I made before Easter, but forgot to upload.

Baseball Season

My little brothers are both on baseball teams this year and I was dying to try out a few different baseball cupcake ideas. The first is just frosting with piped stitching. It is a little thick, but I think it looks yummy! The second is a gum paste cut out on top of frosting. I don't know which one I like better.

It's a Boy!

Cute boy cupcake toppers. Again, these could be for either a boy or a girl. Or, the flower could be for anything. The flower looks really elegant, I think. Maybe it would work for a wedding in coordinating colors.

It's a Girl!

Here are a couple of gumpaste toppers for a girl baby shower. I think the little booties are adorable. Gumpaste and icing. The baby under the quilt is gumpaste, icing, and edible food coloring pens for the hair. Could be done for either a boy or a girl. I think it would be really cute as a mini cake topper and then have matching cupcakes.

Happy Birthday Teacher!

My sister wanted to suprise her favorite history teacher with a couple of cupcakes. He favorite color is blue and she loves chocolate. So we went with dark chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting. One monogram, one apple, one with sugar and dragees, and one with a history book.

Petit Fours

Cute little petit four mini cupcakes for a party. Would be prefect in more pastel colors for a baby shower.

Jewelry Party

An order of "girly" mini cupcakes for a jewelry party. I think they turned out adorable!

Lady J!

Order of cupcakes for Jessica's birthday. She is a fan of Southpark, painting, and theater.

Birthday Cupcake

I had some extra frosting and new dragees so I whipped up a cool birthday cupcake with a gumpaste star.

Happy Birthday Tommy

One of my sister's best friends has a slight obsession with blowing raspberries on his arm and pretending that he is passing gas. He also loves a ficus tree and cherry chapstick. So, this was my first try at this type of thing. It is a devils food cake with strawberry cream cheese/marshmallow fluff. Covered in ganache and gumpaste decorations. So, yes, this is a chocolate cake with a kid passing gas on the top with chapstick and a ficus tree. Oh high school kids.... :)

Birthday Birthday, Coming to Earth Day!

I got these cute star sprinkles and I decided to play with them. I think they would make a super cute birthday cupcake or for a sports theme party.

Easter

This initially started as an easter basket, with completely different decorations. I didn't like the way it turned out so I scrapped that idea and did a more modern take with a poured chocolate design (could be a tulip) and nonpareils. I kinda like it!

Mixture of pink and brown

I had some left over chocolate cupcakes and some pink melting chocolate and decided to have a little fun. So, these are a bunch of misfit cupcakes. The first is a heart and a star... second is just a heart... third is not a duck foot print (as my husband thought) just a design. The fourth one is a tube of lipstick... the rest are self explanatory I guess.
