Carrot Cake

Another non-cupcake post. I know. And I know that I have committed the cardinal sin of blogging- not posting for 5 months. Well, I am going back to school-- which has significantly cut into my cupcaking time. Grrr.

Anyway, here is a 4 layer cake I made for my sister's boss. Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The coolest thing is that I hate carrot cake, but this recipe is so good that I even ate some! :) And it is healthy! Yay for applesauce and pineapple! Double bonus points for the cute little gumpaste rabbit!

I'm not sure

I thought the frosting turned out pretty darn perfect, but that was just too boring to leave it like that. So I put on red sugar. Still not exciting enough. So I added black sugar. It needed something else. So I made a gumpaste flower and stuck it on the top. Perfect. But perfect for what?

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile

I had some leftover green gumpaste from St. Patricks Day so I decided to make a little Crocodile... or alligator. Whichever. Marbled blue and white vanilla frosting with gumpaste figures, and the cross hatching on the back of the reptile is accented with cinnamon. I love his little snaggleteeth.

St. Patricks Day

I love this holiday! I didn't have any sprinkles, so I made due with gumpaste shamrocks. The cupcake batter was dyed green and my little brothers thought they looked like Shrek cupcakes.

Bible Cupcakes

My dad teaches a Bible study class and so I made little Bible cupcakes for all the students! I also tried my hand at making gum paste figurines. The first one was a little rough, but I am getting the hang of it. If you know my dad, then you can see that this figure captures his baldness and funny side! These are double chocolate cupcakes with plain jane vanilla frosting. The best part is the cute fig newton Bible on top!
